The LÉ James Joyce has rescued 155 refugees in two separate missions in the Mediterranean.

Following a request from the Italian Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre, 25 migrants were rescued from a wooden vessel located North West of Tripoli.

And in a second mission the Irish Naval vessel rescued a further 130 people from a rubber vessel.

A third search and rescue operation is currently underway.

The migrants are now receiving food, water and medical treatment where required.
