Tipperary people were full of cheer after their footballers’ sensational win in Croke Park, writes Stephen Barry.

The ending of a 94-year gap to their last Championship victory in HQ was celebrated loudly by the group of fans who have followed this team to Dungarvan, Killarney and Cavan on their way to an All-Ireland semi-final.

They may have been kept off the field after the game, but there was no moving the supporters in the stands.

The county’s hurlers were full of praise, including one who was on the football team last year…

There were also some Tipp men watching in from overseas.

Tipp for the double, maybe!?

Three former dual stars were among those celebrating.

Former managers of the heroic players at senior and underage levels were full of pride too.

Some said they might even be saving Gaelic football!

The stats helped put it all in context.

If nothing else, it was a message to the doubters…
