Dublin Zoo is investigating after a child gained access to a rhino enclosure over the weekend.

Images shared on social media showed the young boy standing inside the enclosure.

He can be seen standing on rocks along the perimeter of the enclosure, close to an adult on the other side of the fence.

It is understood the incident happened on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the zoo said the incident is being “reviewed” but that correct safety standards are in place.
