Just over 362,000 UK passengers travelled through Shannon Airport between January and June, a 9% increase on the same period last year.

The figures released by the Mid-West airport today, show that overall passenger numbers were up by 4% to more than 701,000 in the first half of the year.

The UK remains our largest market – more people travelled from there than any other country, while there has been a 5% increase in visitors from the US.

In a statement to Clare FM, a spokesperson for the airport has welcomed the increased numbers, saying that the continued growth comes at a time when there has been significant investment in enhancing passenger experience.

The Airport expects further growth over the coming months and says it’s “looking forward to a positive winter season with new services to Fuerteventura and Malaga and a return on the winter schedule of Shannon to Edinburgh”.
