An estimated 15,000 people occupied the family friendly cordoned off Main Street area where the festival events, anchored by the large open-air stage that played host to the top acts, over three nights and the Sunday afternoon street festival.
GardaĆ have confirmed that the festival was a very well organised good humoured weekend and was trouble free.
Gorey’s Main Street reverted to its market town past during the Sunday afternoon as a working threshing engine smoked and whistled, while there was an impressive line-up of tractors that tilled the soil in a distant era.
The vintage section was impressive and crowds looked and stared and wallowed in nostalgia, the senior generation recalling the modern machinery of their day, the young fraternity wondering what all the fuss was about!
Dick White, CEO, Gorey Chamber, said the large number of stalls, selling everything from artesian food to souvenir items, enjoyed a busy trade and were well pleased with the atmosphere and the enquiries from large numbers of people, mostly families.
Pubs and shops along the Main Street remained open during the festival and reported a brisk trade with major demands for beer, soft drinks and ice cream.
