Tipperary footballers are dreaming big after their fully-deserved win against Galway on Sunday earned them a place in the the All-Ireland semi-finals.

Liam Kearns’ men will have to beat either Tyrone or Mayo to go one step further to the final, but even to reach the semis is a huge achievement for a team used to being overshadowed by the county’s hurlers.

It is 81 years since they last played in a semi-final, taking on Cavan in 1935. The match was recorded by British Pathé for their newsreel.

It looked to be a packed house in Croke Park to watch the two sides, with several of the players sporting flat caps.

Tipperary looked to have the match won before a late Cavan goal nicked it for the Ulstermen – with the final score 1-7 to 0-8.
