The treatment of Ibrahim Halawa in Egypt has been unacceptable according to the Foreign Affairs Minister.

Charlie Flanagan says he wants the Dubliner home as soon as possible.

Ibrahim Halawa has been in an Egyptian prison for more than three years without trial.

Minister Charlie Flanagan said it’s unacceptable.

“I want him home with his family, to resume his studies in Dublin at the earliest opportunity. I believe that he has been detained now without trial for an inordinate period of time.

“I believe it’s unacceptable and I certainly wish that the trial will be concluded and a verdict handed down at the earliest opportunity.”
