The Health and Safety Authority is investigating the death of an eight-year-old girl on a farm in Co Mayo.

The child died in a tractor accident on a farm in the Lismolin area of the county.

Gardaí have said the incident happened at around 5pm yesterday.

A post mortem examination is due to take place later today.
