A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Kilkenny.

The crash happened at around 1am this morning on the Piltown Bypass near Fiddown when a car collided with a second vehicle.

The second vehicle left the scene.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The 53-year-old was arrested this afternoon and is being held at Thomastown Garda Station.
