Temple Street Children’s University Hospital has experienced a “significant issue” with its power supply and is working off the hospital generator.
Five patients who were in the hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) have been transferred to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin accompanied by Temple Street PICU staff and other medical staff will transfer to Crumlin.
In a statement the hospital said that all other current in-patients in the hospital are stable and can be cared for within the hospital.
Crumlin, Tallaght, the Mater and Beaumont have been alerted in case more transfers are required.
Technical and engineering services in the Mater have also been contacted and have offered support.
Twenty scheduled surgeries and all elective x-rays in the hospital have been postponed today.
In a statement the hospital said: “We urge all parents not to bring their children to Temple Street today.”
The hospital is also currently “off call” for ambulances.
