Staff at the National Ambulance Service have called off strike action scheduled to take place next Wednesday.

Unions representing workers met with the HSE and the Department of Health at the Workplace Relations Commission today, where demands of compensation due and future investment in the service were met.

SIPTU says its members have secured the recruitment of 150 new emergency technicians for deployment into the Intermediate Care Service over a two-year period, and the recruitment of 461 paramedics over 5 years.
