This is as bad an own goal as you’ll ever see and it finished off Aberdeen’s chances of a place in the Europa League.

The Scottish side were taking on Slovenian side Maribor and needed to score after the first leg ended 1-1. Instead they had the evening from hell.

This stoppage-time goalkeeping error was undoubtedly the worst moment – we reckon ‘keeper Joe Lewis will be seeing that one in his nightmare for years.

But earlier in the game they also had a penalty saved and a player sent off – managing to thoroughly scupper their chances in every possible way.

Aberdeen lost 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.

Sometimes it’s just not meant to be.
