The Government has put the Citizens Assembly out to tender.

The Department of the Taoiseach is looking for a polling company to source 99 people to take part in the panel.

The group is due to discuss Ireland’s laws on abortion, how we should deal with an aging population and climate change.

In its advertisement on etenders.gov.ie, the Department says the successful company will need to find 99 people who are willing to take part in 10 weekend meetings of the Citizens Assembly.

The Assembly is expected to hold its first meeting in October.

The advertisement detailed the five issues which the Citizens’ Assembly will examine:

The Eighth Amendment of the Constitution

How we best respond to the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population;

Fixed term parliaments;

The manner in which referenda are held;

How the State can make Ireland a leader in tackling climate change.
