The Junior hurlers play Rapparees in the Championship in O’Kennedy Park on Sun. at 7.15. The death occurred last Wed. of Larry Gaffney, Milltown who played in goal with the first Horeswood team ever to win a County Final – Minor Hurling in 1944. He went on to win a Junior Football Championship in 1951. When the St. Patrick’s club was formed in Aclare in 1955 Larry was a selector and captain of the junior Hurling team. Larry had the distinction of serving as Secretary with 3 clubs- Mountain Rangers in 1947, St. Pats Aclare from 1955 to 1960 and for 11 years with St. James. He served as a county Minor hurling selector in 1960 and again in 1978 and 79. Larry always attended the Horeswood Seana Gael reunion until this year. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.
