An Irish man could find out in the next 48 hours whether he will face jail time over his alleged involvement in the Olympic ticket scandal.

36-year-old Kevin Mallon, who works for British hospitality provider THG Sports , was arrested in Brazil on suspicion of illegally selling tickets to high profile events.

The Olympic Council of Ireland has begun its own investigation while Opposition TD’s are urging the Sports Minister Shane Ross to launch an independent inquiry.

It is thought Mr Mallon may be facing a jail sentence if convicted.
