Irish boxer Steven Donnelly has won his preliminary round contest at the Rio Olympics today.
The Ballymena welterweight beat Byamba Tuvshinbat of Mongolia in a a split decision, 28-29, 29-28, 27-30 to reach quarter-finals.
The 27-year-old will face world champion Mohammed Rabii of Morocco on Saturday, with the winner guaranteed of a bronze medal at least.
