Secret documents have shown the British government prepared a number of paper on how to handle former Taoiseach Charles Haughey.

The Northern Ireland Office had concerns about the former Fianna Fáil leader’s approach to the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

They prepared three reports called ‘Handling Mr Haughey’.

The documents were released yesterday to be included in an historical archive about the Troubles.
