Bishop Edward Daly is being remembered as a courageous peacemaker.

He passed away on Monday at the age of 82, following a battle with cancer.

His Funeral mass will take place in St Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry city, at 3.30pm this afternoon.

Bishop Daly appeared in one of the most iconic photographs of the Troubles, in which he was seen waving a handkerchief during violence on Bloody Sunday in 1972.

Spokesperson for the diocese of Derry Father Micheal Canny, has said Bishop Edward Daly worked against all odds during the Troubles, to bring communities together.
