Annalise Murphy remains in the medal places after a day of unpredictable winds in Rio.

Murphy battled her way to 18th and 12th place finishes in her two Laser Radial Races, which leaves her in third place overall.

The competitiveness and unpredictability of the water was illustrated once more as we had two more new winners, making it eight different victors from the eight races.

At present, the 18th place is Murphy’s discard but she did remarkably well to limit the damage, having been last at one stage, but she sliced through the field in an effort that could yet prove significant.

Meanwhile, the Men’s and Women’s 49er crews are both in 5th place after the opening day of action in their events.

Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern had results of 14th and 2nd, while Andrea Brewster and Saskia Tidey finished 8th and 3rd in their races.

Finn Lynch is in 29th in the Men’s Laser.
