Michael Phelps stormed to victory in the 200m individual medley in Rio last night to secure his 4th gold of the Games, writes Douglas Imrie.
But CBC commentator Elliotte Freedman didn’t think so, confusing the great American for team-mate Ryan Lochte.
“Finally, he’s going to do it. Ryan Lochte is going to beat Michael Phelps in this event,” he exclaimed as the swimmers neared the finish line.

However, it was Phelps who had swam clear with Lochte fading into fifth.
Freedman was quick to realise his gaffe, offering this apology.
I'm sorry everyone. I blew it. No excuses
