DUNCANNON VILLAGE was packed recently when it played host to the annual Sand-sculpting Festival.

The fun began on Friday night when brilliant weather greeted visitors as they came to view the magnificent sculptures created over the previous two days.

On Saturday and Sunday the programme of events saw a wide range of fun activities taking place to keep all family members amused.

The nautical theme of this year’s festival saw characters from ‘Finding Nemo 2 (Finding Dory)’ being created by the master sand-sculptors who participated.

The attention to detail and level of professionalism they possess really had to be seen to by truly appreciated.

In any context the pieces created would be astounding but considering they were fashioned from ordinary beach sand made the sculptures all the more remarkable.

Other events that took place over the weekend included a family beach party, beach games, live music and Ireland’s biggest water fight which really proved popular.

The Barrack Street Band was on hand to provide music entertainment while an amateur sand-sculpting competition on Sunday gave members of the public the opportunity to try their hand at the craft themselves.

The organisers were delighted with the success of this year’s event and they thanked those involved in ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the weekend.
