Almost 34,000 products were stopped from entering the Irish market over safety concerns last year.
The product safety orders were imposed by Competition and Consumer Protection Commission which has just released its first annual report.
The Commission also has said it has concerns about the second hand motor sector.
In 2015 the watchdog was contacted over 3,500 about issues like motor financing, car clocking and the sale of crashed cars.
