Arrest warrants have been issued for four men in connection with the recent Rio Olympics ticketing scandal.

Officers from the Civil Police Fraud Unit in Brazil named the four men as THG Sports executives David Patrick Gilmore from Ireland, Maarten Van Os from the Netherlands, and British men Martin Studd and Marcus Evan – the owner and chairman of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Irish national Kevin Mallon, one of the heads of the British ticketing and hospitality provider, was arrested with tickets for the Rio Games, police said previously.

He is accused of conspiracy and helping sell tickets illegally.

The Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) Pro 10, this evening issued a statement.

“In relation to the Pro 10 tickets given to Kevin Mallon for collection by Pro 10 customers in Rio, approximately 60% of those tickets were unsold inventory that Pro 10 would continue to try and sell through their ticket portal and would be available to purchasers in Rio through collection from Kevin Mallon,” the company stated.

It also stated that the “majority of the remaining 40% were sold to corporate Pro 10 customers from Ireland and the EU.

“Fortunately, due to the extremely low attendances at these Olympics the vast majority of our clients have been readily able to source replacement tickets for the events they wish to attend from other ATRs.”
