A leading fertility counsellor has expressed concern about a growing trend for shipping anonymous sperm donations to Ireland.
It ha emerged that the Cryos Clinic in Denmark sent 75 shipments to Irish addresses in a two year period.
Psychotherapist and fertility counsellor Ann Bracken says Irish legislation hasn’t caught up with the situation.
And many of her clients who have received anonymous donations are left in a difficult situation: “They express to me that they are not just angry because it was an anonymous donation for them, but also if they have a sick child, they can’t get any information and that’s really important.
“So, I feel that as a country we need to integrate the legislation much quicker.”
