The Education Minister has said there is great options for Leaving Cert students who are not happy with their results.

More than 58,000 students are getting their results today with 8 students getting 8 A1s.

No one got the perfect score of 9 A1s and 4,000 students failed maths.

But Minister Richard Bruton has said it is not the end of the road if you do not get enough points: “There’s fantastic options out there now, between the post leaving certificate, the emerging traineeships and apprenticeships as well as the Institutes and Universities.

“So it’s not all about the CAO application.

“Many of the best and brightest entrepreneurs have been people who dropped out of colleges and courses, so it is an exciting time and there is really a wide range of options.”
