Thomas Barr has said he can run even better than he already has in Rio.

The 24-year-old qualified for tomorrow’s 400 metres hurdles final winning his semi-final earlier this morning.

The Waterford runner is the first Irish man to qualify for a Sprint final at the Olympics since Bob Tisdall in 1932, coincidentally Tisdall also ran in this event and won gold.

Barr has said he can improve on performances in Rio up to this point.
