The Sports Minister is due to meet with the Attorney General later to discuss an investigation into the Rio ticket touting scandal.

Shane Ross said the terms of reference for an independent investigation will be clearer by this evening.

Shane Ross will get legal advice today on an independent inquiry into the Olympic scandal.

It’s likely that after that we’ll have a clearer idea of the scope and scale of that investigation – including whether it will look back on the 2012 Olympics as well as this year’s games.

Last night Pat Hickey was discharged from a hospital in Rio and brought in police custody to give a deposition.

The Olympic Council of Ireland President stepped down temporarily after being arrested.

He had been in hospital with chest pains.

After arriving home from Rio yesterday to deal with the matter Shane Ross said an investigation into what went on needs to be credible.

He said he expects the OCI internal investigation to stop and that they will fully co-operate with the new independent inquiry.

The Minister admitted the ticket touting scandal had overshadowed Ireland’s Olympics.
