A reward of up to €2,000 has been offered to catch the culprit who abused and injured a dog while it was resting in its owner’s back garden.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have placed a bounty on the head of the person who carried out this calous act that has left a dog with severe disfiguring burns and gaping wounds.
According to PETA, a person doused a dog in chemicals before jabbing him with a weapon through the garden fence.
This is the second reported chemical attack on a dog in County Cork in recent weeks.
PETA Foundation Director Elisa Allen has said that it is imperative this behaviour is stopped: “It’s imperative that any community faced with a cruel and callous act such as this take measures to find the culprit and bring him or her to justice.”
“Animal abusers are a danger to everyone – they take their issues out on whoever is available to them, human or non-human – and must be caught before they act again.”
