Six people have been arrested in connection with human trafficking in Meath.

It is understood Gardaí received a report of a number of people being falsely imprisoned at a house in the county last night.

Media reports state that up to 20 people were found at a house in Castletown. These people were taken to Navan Garda station where they received assistance.

Gardaí detained three men in their 40’s to 60’s two women aged between 40 and 60 and a teenage girl in a planned search of a house at Castletown Kilpatrick in Navan yesterday.

They are all being held under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act at various Garda Stations in the Meath division.

It is reported that further searches of the surrounding area will take place today.
