Tánaiste and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has insisted both the Spanish and Irish Governments are working to bring justice to gangland criminals.

Her comments follow the murder of Dublin man Trevor O’Neill in Majorca last Wednesday.

Mr O’Neill was shot in a case of mistaken identity.

His life was the 10th to be claimed as part of the violent Kinahan Hutch feud.

The Minister for Justice said she is liaising with Spanish authorities on the case.

“I met the Spanish Minister for Justice just some weeks ago, and there’s excellent international co-operation between Spain and ourselves,” she said.

“Every action will be taken, is being taken by the Spanish authorities and indeed by the Irish authorities.

“We have members of an Garda Siochána who are actually living and working in Spain, working with the Spanish authorities.

“So this is a brutal and tragic killing, which I condemn utterly.

“Clearly every effort will be made by the Gardaí to stop this spiral we’re seeing, this cycle of revenge and retaliation.”
