Three people will appear in court this morning following the seizure of drugs worth €210,000 in County Louth.

It is part of an operation targetting cross border criminal activity involving An Garda Siochana and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Officers from the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau intercepted two UK registered vehicles on the M1 motorway just south of the border in Louth on Saturday afternoon.

Heroin with an estimated street value of €210,000 was seized and three people, two men aged 41 and 24 and a 30-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

All three are scheduled to appear before a Special sitting of Drogheda District Court this morning charged in connection with the seizure.

Follow-up searches were conducted on both sides of the border following the joint investigation.
