THE ORGANISERS of last weekend’s Men’s Shed barbecue in New Ross have expressed delight to the Echo at the event’s success.

A large crowd gathered at the shed in the Irishtown, New Ross, on Saturday evening to show their support to both the community initiative itself and also the local Community Hospital which was the beneficiary of funds raised through the barbecue.

The organisers were also happy that the unpredictable weather stayed calm and dry for the duration of the fundraiser.
“It was a bit unpredictable but it turned out ok, weather wise, all things considered and we had a great crowd in attendance which was brilliant,” one of the organising committee told the Echo.

The presentation of the cheque to representatives of the hospital is expected to take place this evening (Tuesday, August 23), and it’s hoped the overall figure will be in the region of €5,000
