Pat Hickey could be released from jail in Brazil this week – as the investigation into reported ticket touting at the Olympic games continues.

In the early hours of this morning THG sports director Kevin Mallon was released from Bangu prison.

He will appear in court in Rio tomorrow and must abide by a number of bail conditions including an 8pm curfew.

The men are accused of being involved in the illegal sale of tickets – allegations both of them deny.

Mr Hickey’s lawyers are hopeful of his release in the coming days.

The reason for the delay in dealing with the case in the courts was that the courts ceased to operate during the Olympics and there was a massive back log of cases.
