The Irishman arrested over alleged ticket touting has appeared in court in Brazil as part of his bail conditions.

Kevin Mallon’s appearance comes as solicitors for Pat Hickey continue to work on an application to have him released under house arrest.

Matt Sandy is a British journalist based in Rio de Janeiro.

He says it’s impossible to know for sure exactly how Pat Hickey is being treated in Bangu prison: “He hasn’t had any family visit him.

“Only I think the Irish Consulate and his lawyers have visited him.

“Obviously as journalists we have not been able to gain access, or talk to him or find out about his conditions so you know we can’t actually say too much about the conditions in which he is being held.”
