Irish international Jeff Hendrick is closing-in on a move to Burnley.
The Derby midfielder was initially expected to join Hull City before the close of the transfer window, but Burnley have tabled a bid of £10.5 million for the 24-year-old, which has been accepted by Derby.
Hendrick will now travel to Burnley tomorrow to undergo a medical and agree personal terms on a deal that would see him become Burnley’s record signing.
Ireland boss Martin O’Neill says that he doesn’t have a problem allowing Hendrick to miss Wednesday’s friendly against Oman in order to secure his club future.
“It’s not a problem at all,” said O’Neill. “If anything like that happens to any of the players, they have permission to go because they’re trying to get their futures sorted out.
“While it might be a wee bit of an awkward time, it’s inevitable that these things are going to happen.”
