There are nearly 400 people waiting for a hospital bed today, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s latest Trolley Watch statistics.
Nurses say University Hospital Limerick and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda are the most overcrowded in the country today, with 29 waiting in each facility.
According to the figures, there are 386 people on trolleys in Emergency Departments and overflow areas of wards today.
The data shows that 275 of those are waiting on trolleys, with 111 in the wards.
Cork University Hospital is the next most under-pressure facility today with 25 people recorded, closely followed by The Mercy University Hospital in Cork and the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, both of which have 24 people waiting.
