The Swiss Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal from the Russian Paralympic Committee to allow its athletes to compete in the Rio Games.

The RPC challenged the suspension imposed by the International Paralympic Committee over state-sponsored doping allegations at the Court of Arbitration for Sport earlier this month.

The appeal was rejected by CAS, so the RPC took its case to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, the only body which could overrule CAS.

And the Federal Tribunal on Wednesday announced on its website, bger.ch, that the RPC had been unsuccessful in requesting provisional measures be adopted to allow its athletes to compete at the Rio Games.

Russian athletes therefore remain suspended from the Paralympics, which open on September 7 and run until September 18.

Like CAS, the Federal Tribunal determined that the RPC had not demonstrated it had fulfilled its obligations to anti-doping rules and procedures.

The cases of individual athletes could not be dealt with separately, the Federal Tribunal announced.
