Chelsea are closing in on a deal to re-sign David Luiz on transfer deadline day as they announced terms had been agreed with Paris St Germain for the Brazil defender’s return.
A statement released around 6.30pm by Chelsea, who sold Luiz to PSG for £50million in 2014, said the move was subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The Blues have already on deadline day completed a deal for Fiorentina’s former Bolton defender Marcos Alonso, understood to be worth £23million.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is close to concluding a season-long loan move to Bournemouth, with footage having emerged showing him arriving at the club’s Vitality Stadium ahead of the 11pm deadline.

Earlier, a quartet of Manchester City players sealed similar loan switches as goalkeeper Joe Hart, striker Wilfried Bony, playmaker Samir Nasri and defender Eliaquim Mangala joined Torino, Stoke, Sevilla and Valencia respectively.
Premier League clubs broke through the £1billion-mark in this transfer window, according to figures from Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, and also adding to the continued spending on deadline day was Tottenham’s capture of winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou from Marseille for an undisclosed sum.
Champions Leicester agreed a club record fee – around £34million – for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani and Everton were understood to have opened talks with Newcastle over midfielder Moussa Sissoko, for whom Tottenham had had a bid of £16million rejected on Tuesday.
Two more clubs to break their transfer records on Wednesday were Sunderland, splashing out £13.6million for Gabon midfielder Didier Ndong from Lorient, and Burnley, paying an undisclosed fee to sign Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick from Derby.
Elsewhere, Middlesbrough announced the signing of Adama Traore from Aston Villa on a four-year deal, while fellow winger Albert Adomah went the other way.
Bony was not the only player heading to Stoke, with the club also announcing loan deals for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi and Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant. Potters defender Philipp Wollscheid headed out the door to join Wolfsburg on loan.
Gokhan Inler left Leicester for Beskitas, Serge Gnabry swapped Arsenal for Werder Bremen and Liverpool confirmed the sale of Luis Alberto to Lazio in a deal believed to be worth an initial £4.3million, while Chelsea loaned Juan Cuadrado back to Juventus for three years.
