World Cup winner John Kirwan has urged Brian O’Driscoll to “get over it” regarding his strong opinions on the non-decision to cite Owen Franks, writes Gavin Spillane.
Speaking on SKY Sport NZ show, The Breakdown, Kirwan also poked fun at the former Irish captain over the spear tackle on the 2005 Lions tour and his omission from the third test in Australia eight years on.
“I still love you Brian, but I think you’re still upset about what happened when Tana didn’t get weeks.”
“And you don’t like New Zealanders because you went down to Australia and you didn’t actually make that final side,” Kirwan added with his tongue-in-cheek.
“He’s totally wrong with that. The judge was there for that, the decision was made. Get over it.”
O’Driscoll’s frustration relates to the second Bledisloe Cup game where Owen Franks’ thumb appeared to come into contact with the eye of Kane Douglas.
This sparked controversy as the All Black prop was cleared of any wrongdoing, and O’Driscoll made his views known on Twitter.

O’Driscoll’s tweet wasn’t taken well by New Zealand fans and some of his tweets in reply have since been deleted.
