Update 5.30pm: Vodafone Ireland says service is being restored following a ‘technical fault’ that caused disruption for customers.
The phone network appeared to have suffered a major outage today, with customers around the country reporting problems.
Vodafone says the fault was causing ‘intermittent’ voice and data issues for some customers.
In a statement this evening, the company says the root cause has been identified and service should resume over the next few hours.
In astatement, the company said: “Some Vodafone customers experienced intermittent voice and data issues earlier today. The root cause has been identified, a fix has been put in place and power is being restored.
“Customers’ full service should resume over the next few hours. Vodafone apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

Customers at Vodafone Ireland appear to be experiencing difficulty accessing their network.
The company appears to have suffered a major outage with customers at several locations around the country reporting problems.
Its not clear how many people are affected or how long it will take to repair the fault.
Ina statement, the company said: “Some Vodafone customers are currently experiencing intermittent issues with their mobile and data services due to a technical issue.
“We have identified the root cause of the issue and are working to restore full service as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Vodafone says the matter is being investigated and they are working to fix it.
