Tax revenues for August were almost €200m lower than planned.

The latest exchequer returns show income tax, excise duty and customs were all lower than expected.

However corporation tax continues to beat expectations, and is now €500m ahead of plan for the year to date.

Overall state spending is around 1.3% lower than planned, with an overall deficit so far this year of €329m.
