Michael Ryan has opted to start semi-final goal-scorer John O’Dwyer in the All-Ireland final, writes Stephen Barry.

O’Dwyer’s potential inclusion had been the subject of much debate this week, with Lar Corbett suggesting that the Killenaule forward would be better utilised as an impact sub.

However O’Dwyer, who missed out on the Munster final through suspension and was on the bench for the semi-final, has been given the nod to replace Niall O’Meara in attack.

O’Dwyer scored 0-10 against Kilkenny between the 2014 All-Ireland final drawn game and replay.

Irish Examiner columnist Donal O’Grady has been outlining how the Tipp full-forward line can aim to create more goal chances against the Cats…

The Tipperary team is otherwise unchanged, meaning that five starters will play in their first All-Ireland final: Seamus Kennedy, Ronan Maher, Michael Breen, Dan McCormack and John McGrath, who switches to the left corner-forward slot.
