Justin Bieber was the guest star opening BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge Month, but he didn’t do as well as he had hoped for.

The Canadian pop star, 22, reportedly forgot the lyrics to one of his own songs during a performance and he also accidentally swore during the live broadcast.

He wrote on Twitter later on: “I don’t usually get nervous but tonight I was thrown off and I was. Sorry about that. Really wanted to be my best. Hope u all had fun.”

He added that he “just wanted to make people smile”.

Justin was seen performing an acoustic version of hit single Cold Water, a collaboration with Major Lazer and MO that has sat at the top of the UK Singles Chart for five weeks.

But despite its popularity, the Bieb was believed to have slightly stumbled over some of the lyrics, according to Time.com.

He was also criticised for coming across as “arrogant” during the interview with host Clara Amfo.

And her colleague Greg James shared his support for her after the chat, joking that she might need a “stiff drink” and that she “handled it brilliantly”.

He was also heard accidentally letting the F-word slip out, as his guitarist seemingly fumbled during a performance of his hit Love Yourself.

Still, it wasn’t all bad, as fans listening to the Live Lounge session praised the singer for his superb vocals as he took on Tupac’s hit Thugs Mansion, performed his own hit Let Me Love You and a cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car.

Prior to the Live Lounge session and chat, Justin showed Clara around his Los Angeles mansion and they indulged in a spot of basketball… keeping it real.
