Update 9.15pm: Gardaí have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident on Dublin’s northside earlier.

A man was shot at up to six times as he attempted to flee from a male attacker.

The incident happened at around 5.25pm this evening, at Drumalee Park just off the North Circular Road.

The shooter fled the scene in a red car, which was driven by another man.

A car was found burnt out a short time later at Regal Park, just off Blackhorse Avenue.

Both scenes are currently preserved for a forensic examination.

There is speculation that the gunfire may be linked to an ongoing gangland feud.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Earlier: Up to six shots have been fired in Dublin this evening, and a car is reported to be on fire near the scene.

The shooting happened at Drumalee Park off the North Circular Road at about 5.25pm.

Members of the extended Hutch family are living in the area.

There are no reports of casualties as yet and no arrests have been made.

Gardaí are investigating.
