Fine Gael’s Michael D’Arcy, T.D., called for the establishment of a drugs task force in County Wexford at today’s Joint Policing Committee meeting held in Wexford.
At the meeting Chief Superintendent for Wexford, John Roche said that the area worst affected by drugs is north Wexford.
The development of hard and soft drug usage must be tackled immediately. The method in which this has worked in other jurisdictions has been the development of a dedicated drugs task force immediately.
“I know the Gardai are continuing their good work in relation to the crime task force and I wish to congratulate them on their successes to date,” said Deputy D’Arcy, who added: “I now want the same resources and more with staff to be committed to fight the crime scourge that is drug abuse. Too many families are being destroyed because of drugs, I want more done about it immediately.”
