Ireland’s opening World Cup qualifier against Serbia has been given the all-clear to go ahead.

There has been heavy rain in Belgrade this evening, which had led to fears that the game would have to be postponed because of the state of the playing surface.

However, the match referee has just carried-out an inspection at the Red Star Stadium and has given both teams the green light.
