Sherrie Hewson let the tears flow during her emotional last episode of Loose Women as she thanked her co-stars for their support over the years.

The TV stalwart, 65, has been a panellist on the ITV daytime programme for 14 years and was treated to a look back at some of her highlights during her final show.

She was also surprised with appearances from her Benidorm co-star Jake Canuso and her former Coronation Street co-star Kevin Kennedy, both of whom had previously told her they were unable to appear on her final episode.

An emotional Sherrie praised her fellow Loose Women – her “girls” – for helping her get through “those very bad times” over the years.

She said: “I love them all, they’ve been so good and wonderful.

“Thank you mostly to everybody out there who has cared about me and my family, and watched them grow up.

“It has been fantastic. Thank you so much for everything, every tweet, every Facebook, every message you have sent me,” she added, thanking fans of the programme.

Sherrie was serenaded by her Loose Women co-star Coleen Nolan and she received a special collage comprised of some of her best moments to cherish forever.

The actress’s farewell episode also saw her receive a prerecorded message from her co-star Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Eamonn, Ruth’s This Morning co-star and husband, said: “I love you very much – this is your time, go off enjoy it, be the brilliant person that you are.”

Ruth added: “You are the only woman I would let my husband say that about! We are going to miss you so much – you are Loose Women. Big love from both of us.”

Celebrity Big Brother winner Stephen Bear appeared as the postman on the show to read out a letter sent by Loose Woman Janet Street-Porter.

The letter read: “I will really miss Sherrie… very few people can put me in my place. But Sherrie is far more bossy than me.”

Janet’s note also joked about Hewson’s “fruitless search for Mr Right” and added that it will be “a saga that will run forever”.

Sherrie announced in August that she would be stepping down from her role as a Loose Woman, stating that it is “in my DNA”.

She added: “I have a thing that goes right through my body that says Loose Women, like a rock in Blackpool, and so it will never, ever leave me.

“On my seat, I’ve told everything. I’ve said everything…

“I’ve told as much as I’m sure you will want to hear. So I’m going to be leaving Loose Women because it’s kind of time.. I’ve said everything there is.

“I’m leaving this seat so somebody else now can sit on this seat for 14 years and tell all their stories.”

But she added: “Like Arnold Schwarzenegger said, ‘I’ll be back’.”
