2016 hasn’t been a vintage year for Rory McIlroy but he looks to be coming into form just in time for the Ryder Cup later this month.
The four-time major winner is at nine under after three rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston, putting him in the top ten of the leaderboard and right in contention heading into the final round.
But McIlroy could have been one shot better, after his second shot on the par-five final hole very nearly went in for an albatross.

Incredible. https://t.co/lZwfDtL46c
McIlroy’s reaction said it all as the ball clipped the hole after an immense 210 yard shot.
He tapped in for an eagle but must be ruing the missed opportunity to join the very short list of golf professionals who have scored an albatross in play.
