Dundalk have gone seven points clear at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division.

The defending champions have put some extra daylight between themselves and second-placed Cork City after a 1-0 win over 10-man Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.

David McMillan’s 13th-minute goal separated the sides at the final whistle.

Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers have got to within two points of third-placed Derry City after a 1-0 win over their hosts, Galway United. Gary Shaw got the winning goal in first-half stoppage time.

And Bray Wanderers came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over St Pat’s at Richmond Park.

Ger Pender and Hugh Douglas were on target for the Seagulls after Graham Kelly’s opener.
