Gardaí are appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation into the murder of Philip Finnegan.

The 24-year-old’s body was discovered last Friday at Rahin Wood in Kildare, off the main Kinnegad/Edenderry Road.

Gardaí want to hear from anyone who was using the woods who saw anything unusual between August 10, when Philip went missing, and September 2, when his remains were found.

Chief Superintendent Barry McPolin, who is from Naas Garda Station and leading the investigation, said: “Philip Finnegan was a young 24-year-old man, he was a son, he was a father of small children and he is sadly missed by his family.

“His life was snuffed out and left here in Rahin Woods and we are determined to get to the bottom of this murder, this heinous crime.

“We appeal for any information from any source whatsoever, anybody who has it can come forward and we will treat it in the height of confidence.”
